The Kerala University (KU) syndicate has decided to scrap Assistant Grade II appointments in the varsity numbering 149 based on recommendation by Lokayukta.
The decision will be officially conveyed to the High Court Tuesday. The KU decision not to move appeals against the Lokayukta verdict was taken after voting in which one LDF nominee abstained. Eleven members voted in favour of approving the Lokayukta recommendations while eight voted against. The Secretary, Higher Education also abstained from voting.
The Lokayukta had recently struck down all appointments made on the basis of a written test in July, 2005 and had recommended legal action against former Kerala VC,PVC,4 Syndicate members.
